Mondrian Auckland

The Mondrian Auckland is a 39-storey, 315-key hotel in Downtown Auckland, close to the waterfront and adjacent to its sister property, SO/ Auckland by Sofitel. Originally designed as a Novotel, significant design upgrades and replanning by G2 Studio, from which GCA Studio evolved, transformed the project and led to its selection by SBE for the prestigious Mondrian brand—the first in the Southern Hemisphere.

The design features a dramatic triple-height lobby, double-height sky bar, rooftop pool and deck. Its distinctive curved projecting façade is complemented by a large modulated screen inspired by an Issey Miyake fashion design.

For GCA Studio, the project represents a significant creative investment and an ambition to establish a contemporary architectural jewel within Auckland’s waterfront skyline.
